Welcome to summer 2020 Foundation: Principles and Practice Bilingual Education! Over the next 6 weeks the primary purpose of this course is to provide candidates focus on the history, theory, and rational for bilingual education and English as a second language to teaching speakers of languages other than English. Candidates investigate current research on the effectiveness of these methods and use the World Wide Web to access instructional materials and engage in conversations with Bilingual/ESL teachers. Field observations and experiences are required and integrated into the course. I am Dr. Zahra Saleh-Johnson and reside in the Tampa Bay area. I have been teaching for over 20 years in urban/suburban and overseas elementary/middle school and post secondary education.
I enjoy traveling around the world and when I can, relaxing on the beach. I'm an avid reader of children's literature, mysteries and biographies. I have added a few pictures of my favorite places I have traveled.
